What is JCL’s geographical service area?
JCL accepts individuals from the Greater Hartford area. All of our homes and program sites are located in West Hartford.

Does JCL only accept Jewish people?

JCL serves adults with developmental disabilities of all faiths and backgrounds. We are committed to assisting our residents to experience any religious or cultural activity of their choosing.

 

JCL is the only organization in the area that helps Jewish adults with special needs practice and reinforce their Jewish heritage and live a Jewish life.

Is JCL licensed by the state?

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has designated JCL as a “Qualified Provider". Group homes operated by JCL are licensed by DDS.

 

DDS personnel make unannounced visits to conduct Quality Service Reviews of all JCL residential settings. These reports are available upon request.​

Does JCL offer residential services on a private fee-for-service basis?

How are services paid for?

JCL and the adults we serve depend almost entirely on program funding provided by the State of Connecticut and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

 

The remaining 20% of funds needed for operating our programs is donated by generous community supporters. Grants are made available through the generosity of private foundations. 

 

JCL does accept individuals able to privately pay for services as well.

Does JCL accept donations?

Yes, JCL is eligible to receive tax-deductible donations. Donations are used to support our residents and programs. 87 cents of every dollar received is spent on programs and services.

 

The Jewish Association for Community Living, Inc., JCL, is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Is financial assistance available?

No. Funding from the state is designated for each individual served by JCL.

 

Donations supplement state funding cover the cost of providing high-quality supports and services for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.

Does JCL provide Respite Services?

JCL does not currently provide respite services.
